Standardized work

A standardized approach means that the same work is performed in the same way regardless of who performs the work.

Achieving a standardized approach requires an understanding of why it is important and this understanding is created by educating and training employees. If the employees themselves develop and update the standard operating methods, they will be developed on a regular basis and kept alive.

In areas where there are no standards, disturbances and problems will have an impact and it will then be difficult to correct them. By comparing against a standard, variations in both quality and time can be removed, which leads to predictable processes and flows.
