5S – The well-organized and functional workplace

The 5S method is about creating a well-organized and functional workplace by ensuring that everything is in the right place and ready to use. Successful application of 5S leads to reduced waste in terms of time spent looking for tools, materials, documents, or information. The time freed up can then be advantageously spent in improvement work. The 5S method also contributes to more predictable processes and flows.

The starting point is to create an understanding of just why a well-organized and functional workplace is important for operations. This understanding is created through training and teaching employees in their place of work.
