Save the Children
Education improves life-long health, income and prospects. Save the Children works to ensure that every child receives a good quality education and gains the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the 21st century.
We support programmes that are proven to promote learning in school and in the community. And we influence global and national policy to improve children’s access to quality education, from pre-school care through to adulthood.
Education is a fundamental human right: Every girl and boy in every country is entitled to it. Quality education is critical to development both of societies and of individuals, and it helps pave the way to a successful and productive future. When all children have access to a quality education rooted in human rights and gender equality, it creates a ripple effect of opportunity that influences generations to come.
Every child has the right to education, but many children are excluded because of high costs, language and cultural barriers, geographical remoteness, or special needs.
We work to ensure free and equal access to quality education at all times, including in emergencies, as well as access to learning for young people so they can reach their full potential.
